About This Audiobook

Jay Crownover’s *Goldilocks* is a sharp, gritty romantic suspense that flips the script on second chances. Olivia Adams—Ollie—is a thief who got caught, and now she’s paying the price with a bracelet, community service, and the weight of lives she ruined. When a job goes sideways and she’s left with a stolen diamond necklace, she’s forced to return to the one man who might actually understand her: her ex-fiancé’s brother, Ethan. Their chemistry is electric, but trust is a luxury neither can afford. This isn’t a soft, fluffy romance—it’s a high-stakes game where every move could collapse under the pressure of past mistakes. Crownover’s prose is tight, her characters flawed but magnetic, and the tension crackles every time Ollie and Ethan are in the same room. If you crave romance with a criminal edge, this is your book.

The narration by Connor Brown and Elizabeth Hart elevates the story into something unforgettable. Brown’s gritty, gravelly voice is perfect for Ethan’s brooding intensity, while Hart brings Ollie’s sharp wit and vulnerability to life with a sassiness that never overshadows her depth. The back-and-forth between them feels like eavesdropping on a high-stakes poker game—you’re never sure who’s bluffing. The production is seamless, with crisp sound design that keeps the pacing taut even when the plot lingers in the morally gray zones. This isn’t a sweet ride; it’s a thrill-seeker’s dream with emotional stakes that linger long after the last chapter.

AudioBook Atlas

I went into *Goldilocks* expecting another tired redemption arc, but Crownover pulled me in with a story that’s equal parts heist thriller and raw relationship drama. Ollie is a protagonist you can’t help but root for, even when she’s making terrible decisions—because aren’t we all? The way her past mistakes haunt her isn’t just backstory; it’s the foundation of her character, and Crownover never lets you forget that. Ethan, on the other hand, is the kind of man you’d both want to punch and kiss in the same breath. Their dynamic is the engine of this story, and the chemistry between Brown and Hart sells it completely. Brown’s voice has a rough, lived-in quality that makes Ethan feel like a man who’s been hardened by life but still softens for the right person. Hart’s narration of Ollie’s internal monologue is particularly strong—you hear every flicker of defiance and self-doubt, making her feels achingly real. That said, the pacing stumbles in the middle act when the plot leans too hard on the heist mechanics. A few too many details about the diamond’s location and the escape routes bog down what should be pure adrenaline. And while Hart’s performance is stellar, there were moments where her Ollie sounded a shade younger than the hardened thief Crownover describes. But these are minor quibbles in an otherwise stellar listening experience. The production is top-notch, the tension never lets up, and by the end, I was left wanting more—always a good sign. If you love romance where the stakes are real and the love story isn’t just a backdrop, this is the audiobook for you.
