The chemistry between them is undeniable, but what surprised me was how much I loved the *non-romantic* tension. The heroine’s father isn’t a cardboard villain; his protectiveness feels earned, and the way he sabotages the hero’s career adds legitimate stakes. That said, the audiobook isn’t perfect. The middle act drags slightly with repetitive conflicts (how many times can they almost kiss before *actually* kissing?), and the resolution to the baseball season subplot feels a tad rushed. I also wished for more depth in the hero’s backstory—his ‘bad boy’ rep is well-sold, but the *why* behind it gets glossed over. Still, the narration saves even the weaker moments.
