This audiobook is a masterclass in how to make a rom-com feel urgent—like every laugh could be your last before the plot drags you into a murder investigation. Robert Hatchet’s deadpan delivery as the grumpy love interest is a standout, his voice dripping with the kind of sarcasm that makes you snort-laugh even when you’re not supposed to take him seriously. Samantha Brentmoor, meanwhile, brings a breathless, chaotic energy to the heroine that sells the book’s chaotic charm, her pacing so snappy it feels like she’s racing to the next scandalous reveal. The real surprise, though, is Brynne Weaver herself narrating snippets of the protagonist’s inner thoughts—her raw, unfiltered delivery makes the first-person perspective feel like eavesdropping on a friend’s disastrous love life, flaws and all. That said, the production can feel a tad uneven; some chapters drag under Hatchet’s growling narration, while Brentmoor’s segments zip by so fast you might miss a crucial detail. Still, the flaws are forgivable when the story delivers as much heat as it does suspense. If you’re here for a flirty, fast-paced ride with a side of danger, *Harvest Season* is the audiobook equivalent of a summer fling—messy, intoxicating, and over way too soon.
