I was captivated by 'Hazel Wood' from the start, drawn in by Lea Baastrup Rønne's understated yet compelling narration. The story is a complex web of family secrets and literary references, with Albert's writing conjuring a vivid sense of atmosphere and unease. One of the standout aspects is the way the narrative jumps between different timelines and narrative voices, which Rønne handles with ease. If I have a criticism, it's that some of the supporting characters feel a bit one-dimensional, and the pacing can be slow in a few places. However, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise engrossing listen. Overall, 'Hazel Wood' is a haunting and thought-provoking audiobook that will appeal to fans of dark, literary fiction.
