As I listened to Heart of the Country, Aimee Lilly's narration drew me in from the very beginning. Her ability to convey the raw emotions of the characters made me feel as though I was right there with them, experiencing their triumphs and tribulations. John Ward's writing is masterful, painting a vivid picture of the small-town life that the Carraday family inhabits, while also exploring the complexities of their relationships. One critique I have is that some of the secondary characters could have been developed more, as I found myself wanting to know more about their backstories.
