Listening to Graham Norton narrate *Home Stretch* is like eavesdropping on a brilliant raconteur spinning a yarn at a pub, except this yarn unravels your heart a little more with every word. Norton’s performance is the audiobook’s secret weapon: he toggles between brash Irish humor and quiet devastation with ease, his voice alternating between a mischievous chuckle and a wounded sigh. The pacing is tight, the tension ratchets up just when you think you’ve got it figured out, and his knack for timing—especially during the revelatory beach scene—makes the emotional gut-punches land with real force. That said, the audiobook does stumble in the final act, where some character motivations feel rushed to satisfy the plot’s tighter timeline. Norton’s narration also occasionally lapses into over-enunciation (a pet peeve of mine), which jolts you out of the story when the emotion runs high. Still, these quibbles are minor in the face of the audiobook’s strengths: a story that lingers, a narrator who feels like a trusted friend, and a conclusion that’s equal parts heartrending and hopeful.
