As someone who's been in a similar situation, I couldn't help but be drawn into the world of Jamie and Kate. Their chemistry – both on and off the page – is undeniable, and Proctor masterfully ramps up the tension as they navigate the perils of unrequited love. What I appreciated most about this audiobook was the way it tackled complex themes like guilt, regret, and the consequences of one's actions. However, at times, I found the supporting cast to be a tad one-dimensional, particularly Kate's journalist friends who seemed more like caricatures than fully fleshed-out characters. Nevertheless, the narrative is engaging, and the pacing is well-balanced, making it easy to get lost in the world of Oakwood.
