Nikki Zakocs nails the narration in this audiobook, delivering Aunt Rosa’s fiery Italian tirades and Uncle Lazarro’s gruff charm with equal parts gusto and tenderness. Her pacing keeps the story moving at a clip that never drags, even during the more sentimental moments—though I’ll admit, I found myself pausing once or twice to savor a particularly sharp exchange between the leads. The production quality is top-notch, with crystal-clear audio that makes the humorous asides land even harder. That said, I did wish Thompson had given Bella a bit more agency in her own subplot instead of relegating her to the sidelines as the mediator. The wedding planning chaos is delightful, but the romance between the leads sometimes overshadows the secondary threads. Still, Zakocs’s performance elevates the material, and if you’re a fan of enemies-to-lovers with a side of family drama, you’ll be thoroughly entertained.
