I dove into 'Kill Me Tomorrow' expecting another solid entry in the Johnstone Country saga, and John Little's narration absolutely delivered. His gravelly, slightly drawled voice perfectly captures the world-weary Texans – Doolin, the pragmatist, and Tubbs, the hotheaded survivor. Little doesn't just read the words; he imbues the characters with personality, his tone shifting seamlessly from menacing threats to weary introspection. The action sequences are handled with kinetic energy, the narrator's pace quickening during the shootouts, keeping the listener adrenaline-fueled. The core conflict, two smooth-shooting young gunslingers trying to muscle in, pits youthful arrogance against decades of hard-won experience and cynicism. My only minor critique is that some of the secondary characters feel a little underdeveloped, serving mainly as obstacles or conversation pieces for Doolin and Tubbs.
