Lucas, on the other hand, is the human embodiment of ‘I have a system’—until Rosie derails it with the subtlety of a bulldozer. The slow-burn realization that they might actually *work* together, despite their clashing lifestyles, is where Monroe earns her stars. The only misstep? A few too many contrived meet-cutes that feel like they were lifted from a Hallmark script—sweet, but a tad predictable. The narration is where this audiobook soars. Griffin and Kydd have undeniable chemistry, their voices clashing and complementing in the best way. Griffin’s Rosie has this musical lilt that makes even her most ridiculous schemes sound charming, while Kydd’s Lucas is all gravel and guilt, like a baritone teddy bear who just found out he’s about to be a dad *again*. My one complaint? Some of the side characters (looking at you, Rosie’s dramatic best friend) veer into caricature territory, and the pacing drags slightly in the middle act when the plot feels like it’s circling the drain. Still, the production quality is top-tier, and the intimacy of the narration makes the steamy scenes feel *almost* too real.
