About This Audiobook

Letting Go is a poignant exploration of first love, grief, and the complexities of human relationships. Molly McAdams masterfully weaves a narrative that strips away the romance of memory, leaving us with the messy realities of growing up. The story follows Grey and Ben, who fell deeply in love as teenagers, only to have their dreams brutally shattered when Ben dies just days before their wedding. Em Eldridge's emotive narration brings the heart-wrenching moments to life, while Matthew Alan's subtle counterpoint adds depth and nuance to the performance. The chemistry between the narrators is undeniable, making their dual narration feel like a natural extension of the story's emotional core.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

As I listened to Letting Go, I found myself swept up in Grey's anguish and longing, thanks in large part to Em Eldridge's exceptional performance. Her ability to convey the character's vulnerability and pain was nothing short of breathtaking. One of the standout aspects of this audiobook is its exploration of grief and guilt, particularly in the aftermath of Ben's death. McAdams handles these complex emotions with a deft touch, never shying away from the uncomfortable truths that arise. However, I did feel that the supporting cast could have been fleshed out further, particularly in the second half of the book. Some plot threads felt a tad underdeveloped, leaving me wishing for a bit more resolution. Still, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise haunting and memorable listening experience.
