Loved by a Beast

Rachel Music’s narration is the secret weapon of this audiobook, transforming what could’ve been a messy, melodramatic plot into something addictive. Her delivery is electric—she nails the protagonist’s journey from furious betrayal to reluctant fascination with a razor’s edge, her pacing tight enough to keep the story from spiraling into absurdity. The alien romance trope gets a much-needed shakeup here, and Music sells it with a dry wit that undercuts the darker elements just enough to keep things from tipping into parody. That said, the production hits a snag in the final act when the audio levels dip noticeably during an emotional climax, making it feel slightly rushed—almost like the editor ran out of steam. But the chemistry between the leads, the razor-sharp banter, and the moral gray areas (is it still kidnapping if he *literally* saved your life?) make it impossible to pause. I finished this in two sittings, and I’d do it again just to hear Music’s infuriated sighs when the heroine’s sarcasm wins another round.
