As someone who's listened to their fair share of Civil War audiobooks, I can confidently say that 'Military Memoirs of a Confederate' stands out. Traber Burns' narration is exceptional, his deep, resonant voice perfectly suited to Alexander's candid and often critical accounts. Burns' ability to switch between characters and convey the emotion behind Alexander's words is truly impressive. The pacing is steady, never bogging down in excessive detail, yet never rushing through important events. My only critique is that Burns' narration can sometimes feel a bit too formal, which can momentarily jar you out of the story. But this is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding audiobook experience. If you're looking for a fresh, unvarnished perspective on the Civil War, look no further.
