Mindhunter

As an audiobook editor, I went into Mindhunter with a mix of curiosity and trepidation. Having worked with numerous true crime titles, I wasn't sure what this one would bring to the table. But Douglas' narration quickly won me over, his voice conveying a sense of authority and conviction that's hard to shake. His descriptions of the crimes and the investigations are vivid and unflinching, but also oddly compassionate – a testament to his years of experience in this field. One of the strengths of the audiobook is its ability to balance the gruesome details of the crimes with a deeper exploration of the psychological factors at play. Douglas' use of case studies to illustrate his theories on profiling is both fascinating and enlightening. However, I did find the pacing to be a bit uneven at times, with some sections feeling a bit rushed. Additionally, some listeners may find the lack of resolution in certain cases frustrating – but this is, after all, a memoir, not a detective novel. Overall, Mindhunter is a gripping and thought-provoking listen that's sure to leave a lasting impression.
