AudioBook Atlas

As someone who's always been fascinated by Chinese culture, I found 'Mythology' to be an absolute treasure. The way Stephens has interwoven the 'Classic of Mountains and Seas', 'Huainanzi', and 'Shan Hai Jing' is nothing short of masterful. Ellison's narration is a true delight, his deep, resonant voice bringing a gravitas that feels fitting for these ancient tales. The pacing is steady, allowing time to absorb the rich detail and imagery of each story. However, I must admit, the sheer volume of characters and locations can be a bit overwhelming at times, and a few more pronunciation guides wouldn't have gone amiss. Overall, though, 'Mythology' is a remarkable listen that has deepened my appreciation for Chinese mythology.
