Editor's Review ★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I devoured 'New People' in a single listening session, and I'm still thinking about it days later. Kristen Ariza's narration is spot-on, capturing Maria's snarky wit and making the story fly by. Senna's exploration of race and identity is timely and thought-provoking, but it's the novel's darkly comedic tone and unexpected twists that make it truly distinctive. The pacing is perfect, with each chapter ending on a cliffhanger that had me hitting 'play' again and again. However, some of the secondary characters could have used more development, and a few plot points felt a bit too convenient. Overall, though, 'New People' is a fresh, provocative listen that will leave you eager for more from Danzy Senna.
