No Place to be Single – This Love Tastes Like Trouble

I’ll admit, I was skeptical when I started listening to *No Place to Be Single*. A rom-com set in a picturesque Tuscan village where the entire population is obsessed with fixing up the last two singles? It sounded like a recipe for disaster—or at least a very niche audience. But Kingsley pulls it off with such infectious enthusiasm that I was hooked within the first chapter. The chemistry between Michael and Elisa is sizzling in the best way—equal parts infuriating and irresistible—and the villagers’ antics (think matchmaking schemes, near-miss disasters, and one very dramatic olive oil tasting) are so absurdly fun that I found myself laughing out loud on my commute. Narration-wise, Sven Macht and Sandra Voss are a dream team. Macht’s smooth, confident delivery as Michael perfectly captures the character’s charm and frustration, while Voss’s playful, no-nonsense tone as Elisa keeps the energy high and the humor sharp. If I had one critique, it’s that the side characters occasionally blur together, especially in the early chapters where the village’s meddling dynamics are still being established. But that’s a minor quibble in an otherwise delightful experience. The production is top-notch, with just enough ambient noise (rustling leaves, distant church bells) to immerse you in the setting without distracting from the story. By the time I reached the final chapter, I was genuinely invested in these characters’ happiness—and that’s saying something for a book that starts with a premise this ridiculous.
