The Paris setting isn’t just backdrop—it’s a character, from the clatter of a *bistro*’s dishes to the hush of a luxury train compartment, all rendered with understated sound design that immerses without distracting. That said, the plot occasionally leans *too* heavily on coincidence (a conveniently placed newspaper headline here, an overheard conversation there), and the Secret Service Bureau’s motives remain murky even by spy-story standards. Lilian’s recklessness also skirts believability—how many times can one girl talk her way out of a gendarme’s grasp?—but these are quibbles in what’s ultimately a delightful listen. The real magic is in the details: the way Sophie’s gloves *squeak* when she’s nervous, or how Preddy voices a French countess with just enough accent to sound authentic without veering into caricature. For ages 8–12, it’s a masterclass in balancing adventure with atmosphere.
