The pacing is steady, allowing the story to unfold naturally, much like a conversation over a cup of coffee. However, I found myself wishing for a bit more depth in the exploration of Hostetter's relationship with her mother, which felt somewhat rushed. Nonetheless, 'Plain' is a powerful testament to the human spirit's resilience and the importance of authenticity. It's a must-listen for anyone who's ever felt like they didn't quite fit into the mold they were given.
