Playing to Win

Michael Lewis's narration is the perfect fit for this audiobook. His style is conversational, almost off-the-cuff, like he's sharing these stories over a few beers. It's engaging and intimate, drawing you in and making you feel like you're part of the action. The production is minimalistic, just Lewis and his thoughts, which works beautifully for this type of narrative non-fiction. The pacing is spot-on, building tension and releasing it with well-timed humor. However, some of Lewis's tangents can feel a bit meandering at times, and a few more concrete examples from interviews or research could have added depth. Overall, though, 'Playing to Win' is a compelling, often eye-opening listen that will make you look at youth sports in a whole new light.
