Martina’s narration of Melanie is a standout; she nails the transformation from quiet, unassuming teacher to someone whose survival instincts are awakened by supernatural chaos. Her vocal range subtly shifts to mirror Melanie’s growing confidence, making every emotional beat land with weight. Calihan, voicing Kaelan, brings a guttural intensity that matches the alpha wolf trope without veering into cartoonish territory. Their chemistry is electric, especially during the charged dialogue and tense confrontations. Production-wise, the audio quality is crisp, with no distracting background noise, and the pacing keeps the story moving at a brisk clip. That said, the fae lore is introduced in chunks that occasionally feel info-dumpy, and the romance’s resolution wraps up a touch too neatly for my taste. But these are minor quibbles in an otherwise gripping listen. If you love a heroine who’s not looking for a fight but ends up in the middle of one, and a protector who’s as much a prisoner of his own instincts as he is a guardian, this is your audiobook. The 6-hour runtime flies by, and the narration elevates the story from good to unforgettable.
