About This Audiobook

Punk 57 is not your typical coming-of-age story. It's a raw, unapologetic dive into the tumultuous life of Misha, a boy who's spent his life in the shadows of his family's reputation. Narrated in dual perspectives by Laurie Catherine Winkel and Matthew Holland, the audiobook brings Misha and his pen pal Ryen to life with a gritty realism that's as captivating as it is unsettling. Douglas' writing is distinctive, her characters complex and flawed, making this audiobook a standout in the genre. The narration style complements the story perfectly, with Winkel's smooth, sultry voice for Ryen contrasting with Holland's rough, edgy tone for Misha.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I was drawn into Punk 57 from the first chapter, the dual narration drawing me in like a fly to a flame. Laurie Catherine Winkel's performance as Ryen is nothing short of stellar, capturing the character's strength and vulnerability with equal measure. Matthew Holland's Misha is equally compelling, his voice rough and raw, perfectly capturing the character's angst and intensity. The story itself is a slow burn, but it's worth the wait. Douglas doesn't shy away from tough topics, and her exploration of family, identity, and love is both thought-provoking and engaging. The pacing is steady, the production high-quality, making this audiobook a real treat for the ears. My only critique is that the story can feel a bit slow at times, but it's a small price to pay for the depth and complexity of the characters and their relationships.
