Erica Awai’s narration is the secret weapon of this audiobook, lifting *Pure Irish* from a solid romance into something electric. Her command of both Ophelia’s tough-but-vulnerable edge and Niall’s brooding charm is effortless, and she nails the rhythm of North’s snappy dialogue—especially in scenes where the chemistry between the leads is so thick you could cut it with a whiskey glass. The pacing is brisk, clocking in at just over an hour, but Awai never rushes; she lets the silences breathe, which amplifies the emotional beats beautifully. That said, I wish North had given Ophelia a bit more depth beyond her military background and design aspirations. The backstory about her service is compelling, but her character arc feels slightly underdeveloped compared to Niall’s, whose internal conflict (family legacy vs. personal ambition) is the heart of the story. The production is crisp, with minimal background noise, though I noticed a few subtle audio level mismatches in quieter scenes.
