Seized by the Alien Pirate

I’ll admit, my expectations were low when I hit play on *Seized by the Alien Pirate*—space romances often lean too hard into either cheese or cliché, but Celia Kyle sidesteps both with sharp writing and a willingness to get messy. The story doesn’t flinch from its darker moments, including a brutal first-act ambush that sets the tone for a tale where survival isn’t guaranteed. The romance unfolds slowly, organically, which I appreciated, even if I sometimes wanted to scream at the heroine to stop trusting the literal alien warlord with her life. (Yes, I’m aware I’m the problem here.) Noelle Bridges and Tristan James are the real stars of this audiobook. Bridges nails the heroine’s mix of fear and fascination, but it’s James who steals the show with a narration so commanding it feels like Kintar could reach through the speakers and crush me with one hand. My only real complaint? Some of the side characters blur together in the audio, making it hard to keep track of who’s who in the heat of action. But that’s a minor nitpick in an otherwise gripping listen. The production is crisp, the pacing brisk, and by the final chapter, I was fully sold on the idea that maybe, just maybe, love can bloom in the wreckage of a hijacked freighter.
