I've always been a sucker for a good romance, but 'Shift' took me by surprise. The moment Adrienne Fleming's voice filled my earbuds, I was transported to the misty, magical woods of North Carolina. Her narration is so engaging, you can practically feel the chill of the forest air and the warmth of the cabin's fire. The story itself is a delightful mix of the extraordinary and the everyday. Elizabeth, our no-nonsense lawyer, is a heroine you can't help but root for, and her chemistry with the enigmatic, centuries-old forest spirit, Orion, is off the charts. The pacing is perfect, balancing moments of tender intimacy with suspenseful twists that had me on the edge of my seat. My only critique? I wish it hadn't ended so soon! I could've listened to Elizabeth and Orion's story for hours more. But then again, that just means I'll have to revisit these enchanting woods again soon.
