About This Audiobook

Silence Became a Symphony is a captivating journey through the human experience, where each track is a poignant exploration of emotion, memory, and the world around us. David Divine Brooks' words are raw, vivid, and often unsettling, like snapshots of a life lived on the edge. Narrator Lanitta Elder brings these words to life with a voice that's as rich and textured as the poetry itself, her delivery alternating between a soft, almost whispered intimacy and a powerful, resonant intensity that commands attention. What sets this audiobook apart is the way it uses silence as a musical element, punctuating the narration and allowing the listener to fill in the gaps with their own interpretations.

Editor's Review

AudioBook Atlas

I found myself drawn into Silence Became a Symphony like a moth to a flame. Brooks' writing is like nothing I've ever encountered - it's brutal, beautiful, and often brutally beautiful. Elder's narration is exceptional, her voice shifting seamlessly between the raw, visceral pain of 'The Wound That Never Heals' and the quiet, contemplative beauty of 'The Symphony of Silence'. The pacing is perfect, allowing each poem to breathe and resonate. However, there were moments where I wished for a bit more variation in Elder's delivery, especially in the longer pieces. But that's a minor critique for what is otherwise a stunning audiobook experience. It's not an easy listen, but it's a rewarding one. It's like staring into the abyss and finding a reflection staring back at you.
