The storyteller’s choice to focus on *momentum*—Perseus’s desperate sprint from one impossible task to the next—makes the brevity feel intentional, not rushed. When Athena’s voice cuts in with a sly *“Use the shield, idiot,”* it’s less divine intervention and more a snarky mentor dropping a hint in a video game. Mahalic’s narration sells it: his Perseus sounds like a scrappy teen who’s *just* realized he might be in over his head, and his Medusa is all slithering menace, her voice dripping with centuries of betrayal. That said, the pacing *does* sacrifice some mythic weight. The Gorgon’s backstory—her curse, her rage—gets a single line, which might leave listeners who crave depth wanting. And while the sound design is clever (that *thunk* of the severed head is *chef’s kiss*), the abrupt ending feels like a cliffhanger even though we all know how the story goes. Still, as a gateway to mythology for kids (or a fun refresher for adults), it’s a blast. Just don’t expect *Clash of the Titans* epic scope—this is a myth told at a sprint, warts and all.
