However, the audiobook stumbles slightly in the first act, with a few pacing hiccups that drag out the setup. The real standout is the climax, where Craven’s delivery turns the final act into a full-body horror experience, though the resolution feels abrupt, like Mercer hit ‘stop’ a scene too early. Still, the production itself is crisp, with subtle sound design (echoing cabins, distant howls) that immerses you without resorting to cheap jump-scares.
