Terror by Gaslight

I was hooked from the first chapter. The premise - a serial killer striking on Hampstead Heath every month - is gripping enough, but it's the way Taylor weaves together the investigation from two different perspectives that really makes this audiobook shine. Wale's narration is a joy, his voice perfectly suited to the dark, brooding tone of the story. He brings out the dry wit of one investigator and the quiet intensity of the other, making them both compelling characters. The production is top-notch, with subtle sound effects that enhance the atmosphere without being intrusive. My only critique is that the pacing stumbles slightly in the middle, but it quickly picks up again and races to a satisfying conclusion. This is a must-listen for fans of historical thrillers and atmospheric mysteries.
