The Adjunct

As someone who has spent time within the halls of academia, I found myself captivated by The Adjunct's portrayal of the often-forgotten struggles of adjunct professors. Suehyla El Attar-Young's narration is a standout feature, as she masterfully brings the story and its characters to life with a perfect balance of emotion and wit. Adelmann's keen observations and sharp wit are evident on every page, and her writing style is both accessible and intellectually stimulating. However, I did find the pacing to be a bit uneven at times, with some sections feeling slightly slower than others. Additionally, while the audiobook does a great job of exploring the protagonist's relationships with her colleagues and students, I would have liked to see more development in the secondary characters to further enrich the story. Overall, The Adjunct is an engaging and thought-provoking listen, perfect for those interested in academia, literary fiction, or simply a well-crafted story.
