Robert Fass’s narration in The Arrest is nothing short of a performance piece. His ability to modulate tone and inflection for each character adds depth to their individual journeys. However, some listeners might find the pacing slow, particularly as Lethem’s narrative weaves through various vignettes exploring different characters’ perspectives. The story’s rich tapestry, with its exploration of technology and human relationships in a post-collapse world, is both captivating and challenging. Fass’s delivery, while excellent, occasionally struggles to maintain audience engagement during quieter passages.
