The production is clean, though I wish the audio levels had more dynamic range; Rendsburg’s quieter asides sometimes get lost if you’re listening in a noisy space. The real triumph here is how he balances reverence with intellectual rigor. Take his treatment of the Tower of Babel: he doesn’t just recite the tale but contrasts it with other ancient “hubris” myths, then ties it to Genesis’s overarching theme of human boundaries. His critique of traditional readings—like the assumption that the “sons of God” in Genesis 6 are angels—is sharp but never dismissive. That said, the final chapters rush through Joseph’s story, a shame given Rendsburg’s knack for psychological insight (his take on Judah’s transformation is *chef’s kiss*).
