The production quality is pristine, with no distracting pops or plosives, which is a relief given how much this book demands your full attention. That said, the final act’s time jumps felt jarring at times, as if Cooper was trying to cram too much into the last hour. And while Max’s internal monologues are sharp, there were moments where supporting characters vanished into the background, leaving their arcs feeling underdeveloped. Still, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise stellar listen.
