As someone who has thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the Aerimander Chronicles, I was excited to dive into The First Flame. Lily Berlin Dodd's writing is as captivating as ever, with a rich world and complex characters that come to life on the page. The audiobook version is a treat, with a narrator who brings the story to life with just the right amount of energy and emotion. I was particularly impressed by the way the narrator handled the more emotional scenes, conveying the characters' feelings with a perfect balance of vulnerability and strength. The pacing is spot-on, keeping listeners engaged without feeling rushed or dragged out. My only minor critique would be the occasional background music, which sometimes felt a bit intrusive and took away from the story. But overall, The First Flame is an outstanding addition to the Aerimander Chronicles and a must-listen for fans of the series.
