I had the pleasure of listening to 'The Funny Life of Football' and I must say, I was thoroughly charmed by James Campbell's performance. His narration is warm, engaging, and full of personality - it's clear that he's having as much fun telling these stories as I was listening to them. Where Campbell truly shines is in his ability to balance humor and history; his jokes are clever and well-timed, but he never compromises the integrity of the story or the facts. If I have any criticisms, it's that at times the pacing feels a bit rushed - I'd love to have spent more time in some of the more fascinating historical anecdotes. Additionally, a few of the jokes felt a bit hit-or-miss, but overall Campbell's enthusiasm and passion for the subject more than make up for these minor quibbles. If you're looking for a lighthearted and entertaining listen that will leave you feeling uplifted and informed, 'The Funny Life of Football' is an excellent choice.
