Listening to 'The Great Fire of Rome' was like being transported back to ancient Rome, the crackling flames almost palpable thanks to John Lescault's masterful narration. He imbues each character with a unique voice and emotion, from the panicked citizens to the enigmatic Emperor Nero. The pacing is spot on, building tension as the fire spreads, and the production is seamless, with subtle sound effects enhancing the listening experience. However, I found the detailed descriptions of the fire's destruction a tad repetitive at times. Overall, though, this is a fantastic audiobook that makes history come alive.
