The narrator, Scott Peterson, brings a sly, winking tone to the story, perfectly capturing the lighthearted yet acerbic quality of Twain's writing. Peterson's steady delivery navigates the narrative's twists and turns with ease, drawing the listener into the world of Hadleyburg's insufferable elite. Editor's Review ★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I've always enjoyed Mark Twain's irreverent brand of humor, and this audiobook delivers in spades. Scott Peterson's narration is smooth and engaging, and he brings a welcome sense of playfulness to the story. I particularly appreciated how he handled the story's more absurd moments, conveying the sense of absurdity with a chuckle rather than a groan. My only quibble is that the pacing could have been tightened up in a few sections – some of the supporting characters feel a bit one-dimensional, and their motivations could have been fleshed out more. However, these are minor complaints in an otherwise excellent audiobook. Overall, this is a delightful listen that's perfect for fans of Twain's wit and satire.
