Dolan’s voice carries an almost rustic, storytelling quality, especially in the Gospels, where his delivery feels like a fireside chat with Jesus himself. Nix, meanwhile, nails the prophetic books with a tone that’s both authoritative and tender, like a mother gently correcting a child while still holding space for their confusion. My only critique? Some of the poetic passages in Psalms and Isaiah lose a bit of their musicality in audio form—the rhythm can feel uneven if you’re not used to Peterson’s style. The production is clean, with minimal distractions, though a few breaths or page-turn cues sneak in during quieter sections. Still, this is the kind of audiobook that invites you to listen with your hands folded in your lap, not just your eyes glued to a page. If you’ve ever felt the Bible is stilted or distant, this might just be the fresh air you need.
