As an editor who's listened to my fair share of romance audiobooks, I was thoroughly charmed by The Neighbor's Secret. Sarah Sampino's narration is a major reason why this audiobook stands out from the crowd - her voice is a masterclass in conveying emotional subtlety and nuance without ever feeling over-the-top. The pacing is well-balanced, moving seamlessly from humor to heartbreak and back again without ever feeling jarring. One of the things that really sets The Neighbor's Secret apart is its thoughtful exploration of the complexities of small-town life. Montpetit doesn't shy away from tackling tough issues like gossip, community dynamics, and the intricate web of relationships that bind small towns together. That being said, I did feel that some of the supporting characters could have been fleshed out a bit more - it's a minor quibble, but one that prevented me from fully investing in their stories. All in all, however, The Neighbor's Secret is a delightful listen that's sure to appeal to fans of romance and small-town fiction.
