I was thoroughly engrossed in The Night Raid, thanks in large part to Penelope Freeman's skilled narration. She brings a depth to Dame Laura Knight's character that makes her relatable and human. The pacing of the story is well-balanced, moving seamlessly between moments of tension and periods of introspection. One area where the production could improve is in the transitions between scenes; sometimes the shifts in time and location felt a bit abrupt. Additionally, I found that some of the supporting characters felt somewhat underdeveloped, which detracted from the overall impact of the story. Nevertheless, Freeman's performance and the compelling narrative make this audiobook a worthwhile listen for fans of historical fiction and wartime dramas.
