I found myself completely engrossed in The Perfect Friend, thanks in large part to the masterful narration by Katie Villa. Her portrayal of Alex's crumbling world is both heartbreaking and relatable, making it easy to empathize with the protagonist's plight. However, as the story unfolds, Villa's skillful performance in conveying the subtle shifts in Alex's relationships with her family and Carrie kept me on the edge of my seat. The pacing is well-executed, allowing the tension to build and ebb in perfect harmony with the narrative. One minor critique is that some of the red herrings felt a bit too obvious, but this did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the audiobook.
