The Reluctant King

I was immediately drawn into The Reluctant King's richly imagined world, where ancient gods walk among us and love can be both a strength and a weakness. The dual narration works beautifully, with Hurley and Carr seamlessly alternating perspectives and building tension. I particularly loved how they handled the intimate scenes, infusing them with a tender, almost reverent quality that felt refreshingly different from the usual fantasy fare. The pacing is excellent, balancing high-stakes battles with quieter, character-driven moments. My only critique is that the world-building could have been a bit more expansive, but it's a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding listen.
