The Retreat

I was thoroughly captivated by The Retreat, largely due to Jan Cramer's excellent narration. She brings a sense of warmth and authenticity to Jo's voice, making it easy to connect with her emotional struggles. The story itself is engaging, with a well-paced narrative that explores the complexities of Jo and Ed's friendship. One of the standout aspects is the way Retzig handles the transition from friendship to romance, making it feel both surprising and inevitable. My only critique is that some of the supporting characters feel a bit underdeveloped, and there are moments where the pacing slows slightly. However, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise excellent audiobook.
