His voice has the rough warmth of a campfire storyteller, but with a actor’s precision: the wolf’s lines drip with salacious glee (*“Little pig, little pig, let me come in!”*), while the pigs’ responses range from panicked squeals to dry, almost smug confidence. The production is minimalist—no sound effects, just Vendetti’s voice and the occasional dramatic pause—but that’s the genius of it. The lack of frills forces you to *listen* to the language, to the way Jacobs’ prose turns a children’s tale into a mini-thriller. That said, the pacing stumbles in the first minute. Vendetti rushes the opening exposition about the pigs leaving home, making it feel perfunctory compared to the vivid showdowns later. And while I love the wolf’s menacing charm, his voice could use more variation—by the third *“I’ll huff”*, the pattern starts to wear. Still, the payoff is worth it. The climax, where the brick-house pig outwits the wolf in the chimney, is *deliciously* brutal (that sizzling sound effect is implied, not heard—and all the better for it). At seven minutes, it’s the perfect length to spark a conversation: Is the wolf just hungry, or is he a metaphor for life’s relentless tests? Either way, this isn’t a story to lull kids to sleep. It’s one to make them—and you—sit up and think.
