The pacing in the middle act drags slightly—Armentrout leans *hard* into the political maneuvering, and while the intrigue is compelling, there are moments where the plot feels like it’s treading water before the next explosion. And explosive it is: the final act is a whirlwind of revelations and betrayals that had me rewinding just to make sure I caught every twist. My only real critique? The runtime is *long*, and while the payoff is worth it, the audiobook could’ve tightened up some of the repetitive internal monologues.
