Her ability to switch between the gruff, world-weary Dax and the sweet, small-town Eva is impressive, making each character distinct and engaging. The pacing is steady, allowing the story to unfold naturally, with just the right amount of tension and release to keep you invested. I appreciated how West didn't shy away from the complexities of small-town life and the challenges of gentrification, adding depth to the story. However, I did find some of the secondary characters a bit one-dimensional, which was my only critique. Overall, 'The Way Forward' is a captivating listen that will leave you hoping for a sequel to see more of Colton and its inhabitants.
