There's Wild, Then There's You

I went in expecting a light, fluffy romance, and while there’s plenty of humor and heart to spare, Leighton delivers more emotional weight than the setup lets on. Amy McFadden’s narration is the secret weapon here—her delivery of Violet’s inner monologue is dry, self-deprecating, and utterly endearing, while Nick Podehl’s deep, gravelly voice for Liam grounds the chaos with unexpected tenderness. The audiobook’s pacing is relentless in the best way; the chapters fly by, but I never felt rushed through the quieter character moments that make Violet’s growth meaningful. What held me back from a full five stars was the secondary cast, which sometimes veers into caricature, particularly Violet’s best friend, whose dialogue occasionally feels more like a sitcom punchline than a real person. Still, the production is clean, with no jarring audio glitches, and the chemistry between the leads is so palpable it’s easy to overlook the occasional cliché. If you love romances where the heroine’s flaws are part of the charm and the love story feels like a slow dance rather than a sprint, this hits the spot.
