To My Brother's Cocky Best Friend

I went into this audiobook expecting a standard enemies-to-lovers trope, but what I got was a delightfully messy rollercoaster of emotions—and I mean that in the best way. Laurie West and Christian Black’s narration is the secret sauce here; their ability to switch between sharp-tongued sarcasm and genuine tenderness sells every eye-roll, smirk, and inevitable sigh. West particularly shines as the protagonist, delivering her internal rants with the perfect mix of irritation and yearning, while Black nailed Tyler’s cocky charm without crossing into cartoonish territory. That said, the story’s weakest link is its reliance on convenience—seriously, how many times can one woman accidentally end up in her brother’s best friend’s bed (metaphorically or otherwise) before it feels a bit convenient? And don’t get me started on the lack of real consequences for the hero’s behavior; his arrogance is presented as endearing rather than problematic, which might rankle some listeners. Still, the chemistry between the leads is undeniable, and the production quality is top-notch, with clear audio and seamless pacing. By the time Tyler’s redemption arc kicks in, you’ll be cheering louder than you’d like to admit.
