I started *Todo lo Que Crece* expecting another anthology of exile tales, but Obligado’s stories are nothing like the sentimental or overtly political fare that usually dominates the genre. Instead, she writes about displacement with a poet’s eye for the mundane—how a single plant can become a battleground for identity, or how a misplaced letter can unravel a family’s carefully constructed past. The title, "Everything That Grows," is deceptive; these aren’t gentle parables. Many of the stories are quietly devastating, like 'La Casa de los Espejos,' where a woman returns to her childhood home in Argentina and finds it haunted by the versions of herself she left behind. Andrea Sienra’s narration elevates the material further. Her voice has a honeyed clarity that makes even the most fragmented sentences feel intentional, but it’s her ability to shift between tones—from wistful to weary to fiercely determined—that truly sells Obligado’s prose. That said, the collection’s brevity is both a strength and a frustration. Three hours flies by, but I found myself craving more depth in a couple of stories, particularly the final one, which felt abruptly truncated. Still, if you’re looking for audiobook that lingers like the scent of rain on dry earth, this is it. It’s not a book for passive listening; it’s one you’ll want to pause, rewind, and sit with—because the stories, like the plants they describe, grow in you long after the narrator’s voice falls silent.
