Ulysses

Listening to Ulysses is like being on a wild, often bewildering, journey. Jim Norton's narration is exceptional, his ability to navigate Joyce's dense, often impenetrable prose a testament to his skill. He captures the rhythm of each character's thoughts, the cadence of their speech, making this 27-hour listen feel more like a marathon than a chore. The production is minimalist, which works perfectly for a novel that's all about the words. However, some of Joyce's more esoteric references can get lost in translation, and the lack of chapter breaks can make it hard to find your place. But these are minor quibbles in what is otherwise a monumental audio experience.
